ABOUT SHABBOS CONNECTS

Technology that makes community possible.

Shabbos Connects is built to help Jewish organizations make Shabbat and Yom Tov hospitality easier to organize, easier to access, and easier to grow. We provide personalized registration, matching, host management, communications, and Shabbatton tools, while each organization runs its own programs and maintains its own relationships. The result: less time coordinating logistics, more opportunities for people and families to connect.

WHY WE BUILT IT

Make hosting easier to organize, and Shabbat easier to experience.

Organizations already have the relationships and the community. Shabbos Connects gives their teams tools to bring everything together — without asking them to abandon their individual programs or identity.

Our goal is not to replace the personal side of hospitality. It is to make the administrative side more streamlined, more efficient, and more accessible so that more people can experience Shabbat.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

Can our platform use our own branding and forms?

Yes. The plan is to configure organization-specific logos, colours, questionnaires, participant categories, rules, and communication templates.

Who actually operates the system each week?

Your designated staff member runs your organization’s program. Shabbos Connects provides the software and initial training.

Will Shabbos Connects see all our participants?

The planned architecture is designed to keep organization-specific participant records private, with minimal information shared for authorized coordination. This must be tested before launch.

Can we start with just one module?

Yes. For example, an organization might begin with weekly hosting or Shabbatton rooming and add modules later.

What if our host families belong to other organizations too?

With host permission, the future shared network can coordinate availability and prevent conflicting reservations while keeping program records separate.

Is this available for our organization now?

This local preview is based on an initial pilot structure. Broader organization onboarding and meeting requests are planned, not yet live.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to host every week?

No. Hosts can submit availability only when they want to participate. Not submitting for a week means you are not assumed available.

Can I specify who I am comfortable hosting?

Yes. Programs can ask about participant categories, meals, sleeping accommodations, preferences and restrictions.

Can I sign up for more than one organization?

The planned shared host signup will allow this. One questionnaire will combine the selected organizations’ required questions, without repeating shared fields.

Will I receive multiple weekly forms?

The planned shared-host system sends a single Shabbos Connects form to multi-organization hosts. Hosts exclusive to one organization keep that organization’s branded communications.

How do host confirmations work?

The organization making a proposed placement sends a specific SMS request for you to accept or decline. Nothing should be treated as confirmed until you accept.

Will I know who is coming?

A final plan provides confirmed participant details and relevant arrangements according to privacy and program rules.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

Who can request a Shabbat?

Depending on the participating organization, individuals, students, couples, and families may be eligible. Each organization sets its own program requirements.

How do I choose an organization?

Select the city where you want to spend Shabbat, then choose among currently active participating organizations there.

Will I be matched automatically?

No. Your selected organization reviews and coordinates placements. A request is not a confirmed invitation.

What information will I be asked for?

The organization may request contact details, household size, meal or sleeping needs, dietary information, and relevant preferences. Exact questions vary.

When will I get my plans?

Your organization communicates its own deadlines and sends the final details once arrangements are confirmed.

Can I sign up as a family?

Yes — the broader Shabbos Connects model is designed to support individuals, couples, and families, depending on the organization offering the experience.
